The Source International is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights — in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who we are: The Source International is an executive recruitment company operating in South Africa and Europe. Our information officer is Khanya, reachable at khanya@thesourceinternational.com.
We collect personal information when you engage with us directly — as a candidate, a client, or a visitor to our website. This may include:
- Name, email address, phone number and location
- CV, work history, qualifications and professional profiles (e.g. LinkedIn)
- Information you voluntarily provide during interviews or correspondence
- Website usage data collected via cookies and analytics tools
- Business contact details provided by clients or referrals
We only collect information that is necessary for legitimate recruitment and business purposes:
- To match candidates with suitable roles and present them to relevant clients
- To communicate with you about opportunities, processes, and outcomes
- To maintain records of our placements and candidate relationships
- To comply with our legal and contractual obligations
- To improve our website and understand how it is used
Under POPIA and GDPR, we process your personal information on the following lawful grounds:
- Consent — where you have provided your CV or applied for a role
- Legitimate interest — where we reach out to candidates we believe may benefit from an opportunity
- Contractual necessity — where processing is required to fulfil a placement agreement
- Legal obligation — where we are required to retain records by law
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it in the following circumstances:
- With prospective employers, but only with your knowledge and consent
- With trusted third-party tools we use to operate (e.g. applicant tracking, email platforms) — all subject to data processing agreements
- Where required by law or legal process
Where data is transferred outside South Africa or the European Economic Area, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
We retain candidate information for up to 3 years from the date of last contact, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or we are required by law to retain it longer. Client information is retained for the duration of our business relationship and up to 5 years thereafter for legal and accounting purposes.
Under POPIA and GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request deletion of your data (the "right to be forgotten")
- Object to or restrict how we process your information
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) or your national data protection authority (EU)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at khanya@thesourceinternational.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Our website uses cookies to understand how visitors interact with our content. We use only essential and analytics cookies — no advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse, or unauthorised access. Our website is served over HTTPS and access to candidate data is restricted to authorised personnel only.
We may update this policy from time to time. The most current version will always be available on this page. We will notify you of significant changes where we hold your contact information.
